Misschien niet helemaal de manier waarop je dus zelf een (selfdrive) reis door Botswana wilt gaan maken. Het oversteken van de zoutpannen is ook niet echt aan te raden, nog los van de ecologische schade die aangericht wordt. Bandensporen blijven jarenlang zichtbaar op de zachte ondergrond van de Makgadikgadi zoutpannen.

De Topgear video’s geven je een goed beeld van de uitgestrektheid van Botswana.

Topgear Botswana

Een 4×4 is bij Top Gear niet nodig voor een reis door Botswana, voor ‘normale’ toeristen is het wel aan te raden gebruik te maken van een 4×4 voor het bezoeken van de wildparken zoals Chobe en Moremi. Voor de Makgadikgadi Pans is het advies ook alleen met een 4×4 dit gebied te bezoeken.
